Scotch malt whisky is one of the most complex liquids in the world. No two casks of whisky are ever exactly the same, giving whisky enthusiasts and collectors the opportunity to own and enjoy something that is absolutely unique.
“I’ve followed Andrew’s career with interest, in particular his senior role influencing The Macallan, Highland Park and The Glenrothes. His enthusiasm and experience make him an absolutely trustworthy and inspiring guide for whisky enthusiasts embarking on a cask buying journey.”

A Question of Integrity
Only fully accredited companies like Goldfinch Whisky Merchants can buy and sell whisky casks. We are based in Scotland and enjoy long-standing relationships with many of the country’s finest distilleries and whisky makers. We value and protect our clients’ confidentiality, working with private individuals, exclusive members clubs and in partnership with luxury brands.
Find Your Perfect Cask to Bottle
The range of casks available from Scotland’s six whisky-making regions is vast. Whisky can be peated or unpeated; matured in hogsheads, sherry butts or barriques; and finished in casks seasoned with bourbon or sherry, rum or wine for wonderful and truly unique flavour profiles. We specialise in sourcing outstanding casks for enthusiasts and collectors to enjoy so please contact us to help you find your perfect cask.
Buying A Cask From Us
From new make casks to mature casks ready for bottling, purchasing a cask from Goldfinch Whisky Merchants is very straightforward. Simply register by clicking the link below and we’ll send you details of the casks we have for sale, as and when they become available. Our casks do sell quickly, so they are offered on a first come, first serve basis.
Becoming A Cask Owner
Once you’ve decided which cask you’d like to buy, we’ll send you an invoice and, once this has been paid and the payment confirmed, you’ll receive a receipt of purchase. We encourage all our clients to open an account at the bonded warehouse so they can receive a Delivery Order, transferring the cask into their name. This confirms that you are the owner of the cask and contains your cask details and unique number.
Storing Your Cask
Under the Owners of Warehoused Goods Regulations (WOWGR), only certified Warehousekeepers can store casks in bonded warehouses so we or the warehouse will do this on your behalf. You can, at any time, choose to sell your cask or move it to a different bonded warehouse.
What happens next?
When you feel that your cask is at its peak, you can decide to decant and bottle your own, unique, single malt Scotch whisky to enjoy now, gift or keep for future occasions. As all whisky casks must be bottled in Scotland, this is a service that we can provide.
Selling Your Cask
If you decide at any point that you would like to sell your cask, we will be happy to guide you through the process.
